Vol 5 # 2 – Gratitude is Good for Business

Hello friends.  Welcome to this installment of Better Than Good and Improving™.

Repeating and circularity lead to growth. That circularity takes a simple form:

Respect → Gratitude → Leadership
…and the circle continues.

While it may feel like starting with gratitude skips the first step—respect—look more closely. When you see genuine gratitude, you are often seeing respect already at work. In turn, that expression creates respect in others, and the circle begins again.

TSOT 002: Gratitude Is Good Business

A Gratitude Short Story

Why do I find my neighborhood Harris Teeter the best place to buy gasoline?

One of the happiest people I know works behind the glass most days when I stop in. She is cheerful, bright, and a genuine joy to encounter. Every time, she shows appreciation that you chose to do business there.

She does not have to do that.

She is likely paid the same as someone doing the same job elsewhere. Yet I would wager she will be promoted someday.

She understands something many overlook:

Gratitude makes people feel good.
And people remember how you make them feel.

When was the last time you showed that level of gratitude to your customer?

Gratitude may be the most underrated business skill there is.

This week, make it a point to show gratitude at least twice:
— Once to someone close to you
— Once to a complete stranger

Unless you are a hermit, you will have more opportunities than that.

The Spirit of Thanks (TSOT) is a weekly reflection on gratitude, discipline, and the small moments that shape how we live and lead.
