Vol 4 # 4 – How do you live?

Hello friends.  Welcome to this installment of Better Than Good and Improving™.

Like many authors, bloggers, people in general, I read and listen to a number of sources.  Many are books, both printed and audio, less than a handful of magazines, a very select group of newsletters.

Today, I received a news letter with a quote I just cannot get away from, nor can I get it off my mind.  Quite simply it read:

Don’t explain your philosophy.
Embody it.
-Epictetus

Like Zig Ziglar always did, not only did I credit Epictetus in the above quote, I need to credit Dr. Rangan Chatterjee whose newsletter I read it in.

How does that question, how do you live, apply to Better Than Good and Improving™?  I believe that I embody that philosophy every day.  When that boring small talk comes up and people ask me how I am, my immediate response is Better Than Good and Improving™.

In other words, I follow the example of Epictetus and I embody it.  I also go to the effort of following the philosophy that I espouse in The Spirit of Thanks™.

Speaking of which, if you haven’t yet joined Better Than Good and Improving™, nor checked out TheSpiritOfThanks.com, you can click join or click here for TheSpiritOfThanks.com.  I use my own journal every day and I encourage you to do likewise.

Every time I drive on interstate highways, I click on my latest listen audio book.  Right now I am listening to the King James Version of the Bible.  I also have my audio voice memos app at the ready no matter where I am driving or walking for that matter.  Why?  So that I can record those moments of thankfulness and gratitude that I receive or give.

Later that night, I record them in the Spirit of Thanks Journal.  Which has an added benefit.  I am reliving that moment of thankfulness by listening to the voice memo, and then I benefit from it a fourth time when I write it down: 1-it happens 2-I record it as a voice memo 3-I listen to it 4-I write it down.  One act, whether given or received has immediate benefit four times in the same day.

Likewise, anytime I go back and review my journal, I relive it again.  In a positive way, thankfulness and gratitude are the gifts that keep on giving!  You see, I like you am on the lifelong journey, which is success.

Thanks for stopping by on your way to Better Than Good and Improving™.

Yours Aye,

Dr. Edward M. Dunlap, Jr AKA Doctor D
