Vol 5 # 7 – Are you tough enough on Yourself?

Better Than Good and Improving™

Hello friends.  Welcome to this installment of Better Than Good and Improving™.

The tougher we are on ourselves, the more prepared we are when life tests us.

Read on and discover where I failed to be hard enough on myself.

TSOT 007: If you ask the hard questions too late …

I recently wrote about the importance of asking the hard questions.

Today, I want to reshare a recent experience where I failed to ask myself the hard question soon enough. By the time I did, I regretted my own actions and felt compelled to make amends.

Today, I will share something I did that I am not too happy about. It is about discipline. More accurately, the lack of discipline.

I made an Amazon purchase: dust covers for USB-C cables. In one particular case, a security device that I wear on a lanyard around my shoulder kept losing the cover. Apparently my glasses hanging around my neck kept knocking it off.

I wrote a scathing review about how the covers were too short and would not stay in place.

Then I went back through my recent purchases and realized something important.

The product was not intended to be covers for the plugs on the end of the cable.

They were dust covers for the USB-C ports in power packs, laptops, iPads, and similar devices.

I was using the product for the wrong purpose.

If the only tool you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail!

So I did the right thing.

I went back, updated my review, apologized, and this time raved about how good the product actually is when used for its intended purpose.

That is the truth.

Do the right thing, even when you are wrong.

Admit it TO OTHERS and make amends.

Show the other person — or company — some respect.

Respect → Gratitude → Leadership

…and the circle continues.
